How do I stay motivated in this crazy scary market?Oct 16, 2023
Where does motivation come from? To know that it's time to discover where demotivation comes from?
At this time in my life, I felt called to serve in the capacity of Mayor in my town. It's been very interesting during my Mayoral run as I experience the opinions of other people, all with good intentions, telling me what they think I should do. How I should campaign, what I should do when in office, what needs to be fixed when I need to send advertisements, and the list goes on and on.
The opinions of others can be frustrating and seem to impede your progress because it's distracting and causes you to feel like you're not doing something right. Then it spins you in your thoughts because now you have too many opinions that are not the same as yours and you're frustrated.
Frustration and spinning are a pretty good source of demotivation, am I right?
So, in order to find motivation you need to understand why you're not motivated.
Here is my 4 step process to find your motivation!
The first step is to identify where the frustration comes from. What were the words that were said and how did they affect you.
The second step is to realize that frustration comes from others' opinions, even if they are well intended. We get frustrated when we have a hard time allowing others to express their emotions. We tend to absorb others emotions and ideas and then our brain goes to work trying to figure out how to make them fit into our world of ideas.
The third step is to allow and separate. Allow others to have their own opinions and then separate your opinion from theirs in two columns. Your thoughts are truly separate, the waters only become muddied when all the ideas get mixed and stirred up in one pool. Take them out of the pool.
The fourth step is to find your motivation. What do you want to do and why. With separated thoughts, you can find clarity in what's most important to you.
